General Maintenance

6.22

Adjusting The Drive Chain

Note: Adjust both sides equally.

1. Remove key from the key switch.

2. Loosen the rear axle nut (C) on right side of motorcycle.

3. Loosen the (left and right) 13 mm jam nuts (A).

4. Turn the (left and right) 13 mm adjustment bolts (B) 1/4 turn

at a time until the chain adjustment is within specification.

5. Tighten left and right jam nuts (A) to secure the chain.

6. Tighten the axle nut (C) on right side of motorcycle. Torque

75 lb·ft (102 Nm).

7. Test ride the motorcycle.

8. Recheck the chain for proper adjustment after the test ride

and readjust, if necessary.
