6.8 Checking and adjusting the 

brake cable

The brake is correctly adjusted when there is no play 

in the cable.

Loosen the lock nuts (1).

Stretch the cable with the adjustment screw (2)

Tighten the lock nuts (1) after adjustment. When 

the brake cable is adjusted, make sure there is no 

play.

WARNING!

A poorly adjusted brake can 

result in reduced braking ability.

6.9 Checking and adjusting the 

clutch

The clutch is properly adjusted when the idler’s 

outward motion is stopped by the belt and not by 

the cable.

There should be about 8–10 mm/5/16"-3/8" of 

play (A) between the cable nipple and the lever.

 Adjust the clutch cable as follows:

•   Pull out the rubber sleeve (1). Loosen the nut (2) 

and adjust the wire using the adjuster screw (3).

•   Tighten the lock nut (2) after adjustment.
