Installation respective retro- fitting of the PDC to
a meter
The ZENNER PDC modules are designed primarily
for all water meters of ZENNER which can be retro-
fitted with a pulse generator (model -N). Basically,
a PDC can be connected to any meter with suitable
pulse output.
Note: Potential-free (reed) contactors as well as elec-
tronic pulse outputs can be connected to the PDC.
When connecting the PDC module to meters with
electronic pulse output, however, we recommend
that you carry out a compatibility test in case of
doubt, as it can sometimes happen that the compat-
ibility is not guaranteed.
3.1. Connection (retrofitting) of PDC IP68 with
open cable end to meter with existing pulse
output
Connect the pulse output of the meter with the PDC-
cable. Use a cable connector and possibly observe
the correct polarity.
3.2. Connection (retrofitting) PDC IP54 with puls
output of any meter
Connect pulse output cable from the meter to the
corresponding terminals on the PDC circuit board.
3.3. Mounting (retrofit) PDC with ex-works
installed ZENNER pulser to corresponding
ZR-water meters
Please refer to the relevant installation instructions
of the pulser and take the PDC as described in sec-
tion 3.4 in operation.
3.4. Commissioning PDC
A) PDC wireless M-Bus: The commissioning is per-
formed via the optical interface. The parameters
to be programmed using a laptop with the
Global ZENNER meters Manager (GMM) software
(Configuration Manager license), the universal
interface MinoConnectRadio with Bluetooth inter-
face and the associated special ZENNER infrared
optical head IrCombiHead. Alternatively, the use
of an Android handhelds with a MeterReaderLight
license instead of a laptop is possible. Activation
takes place automatically when the PDC module
has received more than 10 pulses from the meter.
B) The LoRaWAN PDC module is to be activated and
parameterised by means of the ZENNER infrared
opto head IrCombiHead. Here, an additional
activation by means of illumination (at least 8
seconds) of the IR diodes is possible.
Upon successful activation, the device sends a join
request to the server and waits for acceptance (join
accept).
If no connection is made then a further request is
sent every minute (to a max. of 5 requests). The
indicator light (red LED) indicates the status of the
connection process:
■
rapid flashing: No reply yet received
■
slow flashing: Successful connection
If no successful join is achieved then the device will
send a random join request every day until a suc-
cessful connection is made (LED does not display
later attempts to join).
Configure at least:
■
serial number of meter connected to the PDC
module
■
Initial value = present value of the register of
the connected meter
■
Pulse value of the connected meter
■
The respective transmission interval is preset.
(Interval can be configured by using MSS-
Software)
