DIVX PLAYBACK REQUIREMENTS
For any AVI file that has been created with a DivX codec some basic encoding requirements must be met, to yield a file that
is compliant with AVI standards. Non compliant AVI files might still play, but often cause sloppy playback or picture
stuttering. Non compliant files originate from aspect ratio settings that are not following AVI file container format specs.
Most important requirement for compliance is the Horizontal and Vertical pixel resolution of the DivX output file. It must
be divisible by 16 without remainder.
Thus make sure that the .avi video file you want to encode and watch on your ZENEC E>GO naviceiver (i.e. DivX, XviD files)
has been processed with one of the listed output stream resolutions stated below:
AVI FILE
LOW RESOLUTION
HIGH RESOLUTION
Encoded in PAL
352 x 288 (x25F)
720 x 576 (x25F)
Encoded in NTSC
352 x 240 (x30F)
720 x 480 (x30F)
Files that have been encoded with a different output resolution or with other frame rates than 25F/s or 30F/s cannot play
correctly, because the MPEG chipset of ZENEC E>GO units can’t process files that are off technical limits.
XVID ENCODING & PLAYBACK
Requirements listed above for DivX playback do translate 1:1 to AVI files encoded with XviD software compiles, i.e. the same
conditions and encoding considerations/constraints apply. XVID is an open source project and was a direct spin off
formed by programmers that were part of the dev team working on the “Mayo Project”, when Jerome Rota decided to split
and go commercial with DivX.
