User Manual version V1.7 (April 2008) page 6
LINK A (upper most)
This link sets the delay before the camera is turned off when the ‘camera off’ feature is
selected with link E. Without the link the delay is 10 seconds, with the link fitted the
delay is 60 seconds.
LINK B
With this link fitted the trigger unit will flash the LED and sound the buzzer whenever
an alarm is detected. Without this link the trigger unit is discrete with no audible/visual
indicator.
LINK E
Without this link the trigger unit will not turn the camera off, when the alarm is
removed. The camera controller must be set with the camera timeout enabled, with
the timeout period set to 30 seconds or 3 minutes. Otherwise the camera will stay on
until the battery is empty.
With the link fitted the trigger unit will transmit the camera OFF command a short time
after the alarm has been removed. The delay can be 10 seconds or 60 seconds selected
by link F. This allows the ZedCam™ recorder to capture data as the person leaves the
area being observed.
If only one trigger device is being used it is recommended that this link is fitted, with
the desired delay selected by link E. If more than one trigger device is used to control
the same camera then this link should not be fitted.
The camera controller should always be set to turn the camera off, after a longer
timeout (e.g. 3 minutes) so that the battery will not be drained if the alarm remains on
(by leaving a door open for example).
LINK F
Without this link, a camera ON command is transmitted by the trigger unit whenever
an alarm is detected, and the camera will be turned on within about one second.
If the link is fitted the trigger unit will precede the ON command with the command to
switch the camera controller from HIBERNATE to STANDBY. This ensures that the
camera will be turned on, but there will be a 30-40 second delay before this happens.
It is recommended that this link is not fitted, and the auto hibernate feature on the
camera controller is disabled.
LINK G and H (the lower two)
These links are used to set the camera address. They should be the same as the
corresponding links on the camera controller. The default is with both links fitted to
select camera 1.
The default is for all links to be not present except the camera being set to camera 1. This
means:
Do not send auto wake sequence when triggered
Trigger does not turn camera off
Do audible/visual indication that trigger has occurred
10 second recording after camera off (not relevant as trigger does not turn
camera off)
NOTE that these links are small and
VERY
difficult to access and so should only be
changed if you feel you can handle the task. The links are set by ZedCam™ or are re-
sellers to the optimum.
The trigger unit is enabled by sliding the ON/OFF switch to ON position. When switched
on the trigger unit will transmit a command to the camera controller to switch from
HIBERNATE mode into STANDBY mode. This takes approximately 30-40 seconds, and the
LED will flash until the command is complete. The TEST button can now be used to
simulate an alarm input, and turn on the camera.
The trigger unit is switched off by sliding the ON/OFF switch back to the off position.
Before powering off, the trigger unit will turn on the camera for the time set by link F.
After this, the trigger sends the HIBERNATE command to the camera controller to shut
down the system. Turning the trigger back on will restore the camera controller to the
STANDBY mode. If more than one trigger is used in the system, and only one is being
switched off, then the camera controller should be switched back to STANDBY mode using
one of the other trigger units, or with a remote control.
When the trigger is not in use always switch it off (by sliding the switch from ON to OFF)
to extend the battery life. This is especially true of the PIR version.
NOTE that the switch
must be slid fully into the ON or OFF position – the battery life is reduced if it is left
between these two positions.
