SFP Module
The SFP module is an optical transceiver to be installed in an SFP port of a Recommended
Switch when connecting to another Switch with an optical fiber cable.
SFP modules are hot-pluggable.
The following models are offered for Recommended Switches. Select SFP modules from this list.

*1: 1000BASE-LH and 1000BASE-LH+ are vendor-specific interfaces.
“-LH” stands for “Long-Haul”, which is a feature of an optical fiber connection.
*2:
For Vnet/IP connections, single-mode optical fiber cables are recommended. When installing optical fiber cables for the first time,
use single-mode optical fiber cables that are compliant with the optical fiber category of IEC 60793-2-50 B1.1, ITU-T G652.B,
JIS C 6835 SSMA, or higher grade. When reusing existing multimode optical fiber cables, refer to Appendix 3, “Reuse of Existing
Multimode Optical Fiber Cable.”
*3:
The total attenuation value, including loss of splicing and connector connections, at the nominal wavelength must be in the range
of the link budget.
*4:
The maximum transmission distance depends on the performance of the fiber cables. For long-haul fiber connection exceeding
40 km in a domain, refer to Appendix 4, “Precautions for Long-haul Optical Fiber Connection.”
The appearance of the SFP module is shown below.

Lock release lever
Figure SFP Module
To install an SFP module to an SFP port of a Recommended Switch, insert it into the port firmly
until it is locked. To detach the SFP module from the port, unplug the fiber cable, and then tilt the
lock release lever (see the figure above) down to the front and pull it to remove it.
The SFP module has an LC optical fiber connector. Carefully check the connector type of the
fiber cable to be used.
