Hedge trimmer safety warnings
Keep all body parts away from the blade. Do not remove the cut material or hold the cut material while the blades are in
motion.
The blades continue to move after the switch is turned o
ff
. A moment’s inattention when operating a hedge trimmer can
cause serious injury.
Carry the hedge trimmer by holding the handle with the blade stopped and being careful not to use any power switch.
Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will reduce the risk of unintentional triggering and resulting injury from the blades.
When transporting or storing the hedge trimmer always
fi
t the blade guard.
Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will reduce
the risk of injury from the blades.
When removing blocked material or servicing the tool, make sure all power switches are turned o
ff
and the power cord
is unplugged.
Unexpected activation of the hedge trimmer when removing blocked material or servicing can cause serious injury.
Hold the hedge trimmer only by the insulated handles, as the blade may come into contact with concealed electrical
wires or its own power cord.
Contact of the blades with a live wire can result in exposed metal parts of the hedge trimmer
becoming energised and give the operator an electric shock.
Keep wires and power cords away from the cutting area.
Power cords or cables can be hidden in hedges or bushes and can
be accidentally cut by the blade.
Do not use hedge trimmers in poor weather conditions, especially if there is a risk of lightning.
This avoids the risk of
being struck by lightning.
PRODUCT OPERATION
Preparing the trimmer for use
Caution! Disconnect the tool from the power supply before performing any assembly and adjustment work. In the case of
mains-powered trimmer, disconnect it from the socket, and for battery-powered tools – disconnect their batteries.
Visually inspect the tool. If any damage is discovered, do not commence work before removing it. Slide the guard o
ff
the blades
and check for damage.
Handle angle adjustment (II)
The trimmer has an angled handle option. This is helpful when shaping, for example, the vertical part of a hedge, as it allows an
ergonomic grip on the trimmer. The rear handle can be rotated by moving the latch button towards the front of the tool and holding
it in this position. Then turn the handle. The handle can only be adjusted in several positions marked on the housing. Once the
handle is set at the desired angle, release the latch button and ensure that the handle is locked in the set position. A correctly
adjusted handle cannot be adjusted other than according to the procedure described above.
Preparing the workplace
Before commencing work, prepare the workplace. Designate a safety zone around the work area where bystanders will not have ac-
cess. Ensure that there are no obstacles around the workplace which could cause the operator or the trimmer to collide during work.
Connecting the trimmer to the power supply (III)
Slide the battery into the power socket until the battery latches engage. Make sure that the battery will not slide out on its own
during operation.
Disconnect the battery by pressing the latch and then pulling the battery out of the trimmer housing.
Starting and stopping the trimmer
Ensure that the battery is connected to the trimmer and that there is no guard on the blades and that the blades do not come into
contact with any part of the body or other objects.
Keep posture which guarantees balance. Grasp the front handle with one hand and press the switch lock. Grasp the rear handle
with the other hand. Pressing the switch will activate the trimmer. Keep the on/o
ff
switch lock and the on/o
ff
switch depressed at
all times during operation.
The trimmer stops when the pressure on the power switch is released. The trimmer will also stop when the pressure on the switch
lock is released, but in this case the blades remain in motion for longer.
Once the trimmer movement has come to a complete stop, disconnect it from the power supply by disconnecting the battery. Next,
proceed with maintenance.
Working with the trimmer
Do not allow the device to operate at low speed or during start-up.
The most e
ff
ective work is if the cutting is done in full wide movements. For greater e
ffi
ciency, the trimmer can be tilted at an angle
of 5-10° in the cutting direction (IV).
To achieve an even single hedge height, you can use string stretched along the cutting line. Cut the part of the hedge above the line.
Vertical cutting of the hedge is possible. It is advisable to cut in a curved motion from bottom to top and then from top to bottom
to use both sides of the blades (V).
