INSTALLING THE PRIMARY DRIVE GEAR

1. Install:

•

Thrust plate “1”

•

Primary drive gear “2”

•

Governor drive gear “3”

•

Washer “4”

•

Primary drive gear bolt “5”

TIP

•

Install the plain washer with its chamfered side
“a” toward you.

•

Apply the transmission oil on the bolt.

•

Temporarily tighten the bolt at this point.

2. Install:

•

Primary driven gear
Refer to “CLUTCH” on page 5-26.

3. Tighten:

•

Primary drive gear bolt “1”

TIP

Place an aluminum plate “a” between the teeth
of the primary drive gear “2” and driven gear “3”.

INSTALLING THE KICKSTARTER LEVER

1. Install:

•

Kickstarter lever “1”

•

Washer “2”

•

Kickstarter lever bolt “3”

TIP

Install the kickstarter closest to but not contact-
ing the clutch cover mounting boss “a”.

55 N·m (5.5 kgf·m, 41 lb·ft)

Kickstarter lever

30 N·m (3.0 kgf·m, 22 lb·ft)
