Starter motor operation

1. Check:

•

Starter motor operation
Does not operate

→

Check the starter

motor.

Checking steps:

1. Hold the starter motor in a vise using alu-

minum plates on both sides.

2. Connect the positive battery cable

the starter motor terminal bolt

3. Connect the negative battery cable

the starter motor body

4. Check the starter motor operation.

NOTE:

•

Check the starter motor operation for a few
seconds.

•

If the starter motor is disassembled, be sure
to check the operation again after assem-
bling it.

Armature

1. Check:

•

Armature shaft

Wear/damage

→

Replace the armature.

•

Commutator

Dirt

→

Clean with 600-grit sandpaper.

NOTE:

Remove all metal particles with compressed
air.
