A wire that is used as a jumper lead must
have the equivalent capacity or more as
that of the battery lead, otherwise the
jumper lead may burn.

This check is likely to reduce sparks, so be
sure that no flammable gas or fluid is in the
vicinity.

Connect the battery positive terminal

and

starter motor cable

using a jumper lead

Check the operation of the starter motor.

Repair or replace the starter motor.

4. Starting circuit cut-off relay (relay unit)

Remove the relay unit from the wire har-
ness.

Connect the pocket tester (

tery (12 V) to the relay unit terminals.

Check the starting circuit cut-off relay for
continuity.

Replace the starting circuit cut-off relay.
