CPA operating instructions
Geared-type trolley:
By using the hand chain which belongs to the geared-type trolley.
Air trolley:
By actuating the

and/or
4
button on the control system.
For travelling, the braking distance of the trolley must always be taken
into account. The end stops of the runway must not be used in the
course of normal operation.
Attaching the load
For attaching the load only use approved and certified slings/lifting gear.
The load chain must not be used for slinging around the load. The load
must always be seated in the centre of the hook. The tip of the hook
must not be loaded. Never remove the safety latch from the load hook.
Lifting/lowering the load
The lifting process is initiated by actuating the

button, the lowering
process by actuating the
6
button. The highest and lowest lifting load
hook positions are limited by buffers. The lifting/lowering motion is
stopped as soon as the limit switch lever is approached (see Fig. 1).
Emergency stop
In the event of an emergency, all motions can be stopped by pressing
the red button.
Note:
The hoist is still filled with air.
To release the emergency stop, pull the button out again.
8. MAINTENANCE
• Maintenance and inspection work must only be carried out by com-
petent persons.
• The inspection must determine that all safety devices are complete
and fully operational and cover the condition of the hoist, lifting gear,
accessories and load-bearing construction.
• The specified maintenance regulations apply to normal operation
conditions. In the case of arduous operation conditions, such as e.g.
in acid-laden environments, the intervals must be shortened accord-
ingly.
• The service life of the chain hoist is approximately ten years, the
actual service life, however, depends on conditions of service. The
CPA 1-13, 2-10 and 5-5 series hoists are classified in group of mecha-
nisms 1Am/M4 according to FEM 9.511/ISO 4301. The theoretical
duration of service between overhauls for normal loading (L2 load
spectrum) is 3200 hours; this corresponds to 800 full-load hours.
For the CPA 2-31, 5-17 and 10-9 series hoists, the values are L2,
1600 hours/400 full-load hours, since they are classified in group of
mechanisms 1Bm/M3. After this period the hoist requires a general
overhaul. Further information is contained in BGV D6 and FEM 9.755.
Note:
A function check with rated load must be carried out after main-
tenance work has been completed.
8.1 DAILY CHECKS
1. Visual check for mechanical damage of the control pendant and the
hoses as well as unions
2. Function check of the brake
3. Function check of the overload protection device
4. For air hoists with trolley:
• Check that the trolley runway is free from obstructions.
• Check that the end stops on the trolley runway are fitted and
secured.
