5 RS485 Communications
Xtralis Icam IFT systems can communicate using RS485. Several options are available.
1. IFT Single Remote Panel.
2. IFT Mini RDU (Multimaster mode)
3. IFT RS 485 loop.
5.1 IFT Single Remote Panel
The IFT Single Remote panel can be used as a remote panel up to 1 km away from the main system
using a suitable high quality RS485 cable. Xtralis recommends Belden 9841/9842.

9841 Single twisted pair for comms only
•
9842 Double twisted pair. 1 pair for comms, 1 pair for 24V supply.
The RS485 cable is terminated at the IFT I/O PCB and at the remote panel. The diagram below details
connection of RS 485 and 24 VDC at the IFT I/O PCB (i602)
The RS485 cable must also be terminated at the IFT remote panel. Unscrew the panel from the wall
mounting box and connect as below:

Red - 24 VDC

Blue - 0 VDC
•
Orange - RS 485+

Grey - RS485 –
