SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION CONCERNING LI-ION BATTERIES
•
The battery is delivered from factory with a capacity of approx. 40-60 %. Allow the battery
to fully charge before first use.
•
For optimal battery performance, avoid incomplete charge cycles.
•
Store batteries at room temperature, or slightly cooler, and at least 40% of their capacity.
The ideal temperature for long-term storage is approx. 15 °C.
•
Li-Ion batteries are subject to an aging process. The battery should be replaced if its
capacity drops below 70% of the total capacity. Furthermore, leaking or damaged battery
cells do not provide sufficient working power and increase the safety risk.
•
Do not throw batteries into fire. Danger of explosion. Do not ignite batteries or expose them
to open flames.
•
Do not over discharge the batteries. A complete discharge damages the battery cells. The
most common cause of complete discharge is too long storage time at the wrong charge
value or temperature level.
•
Stop work immediately after the battery is visibly discharged. Otherwise, the electronic
protection system is activated. Protect rechargeable batteries and tools from overloading.
Overloading will result in overheating and the subsequent risk of cell damage even without
the presence of an external heat source.
•
Avoid shock and vibration damage. Check the proper function of batteries that have
suffered a fall from a height of more than 1 meter. Do not continue to use these batteries
if they are visibly damaged or malfunctioning. Batteries can be seriously damaged.
•
If the battery is overloaded and/or overheated, the built-in safety fuse prevents automatic
start-up and shuts down the device to maintain safety. Do not attempt to turn the device
on again pressing the main tool switch trigger while the safety fuse is active. The battery
may be damaged. Once the battery cools down to the optimal operating temperature, the
device can be started again.
•
Use only original rechargeable batteries! Using any other batteries greatly increases the
risk of injury and fire.
•
The battery should not be operated by people (including children) with physical or mental
disabilities or people without knowledge and experience in handling such equipment,
unless such handling is supervised in accordance with the instructions in this manual. In
particular, it is important to ensure that the device is always out of the reach of children.
The charging process should be under the constant supervision of the user.
•
Rechargeable batteries must only be charged using the recommended, original charger.
Using any other charging device greatly increases the risk of injury or fire. Only batteries
whose specifications match the parameters of the charging devices should be used. Use
of other devices may cause injury or fire.
•
When the battery is not in use, it shall not be stored near metal objects such as paper clips,
coins, keys, nails, screws and other small metal objects that may short-circuit the battery.
Shorting the battery cells can result in injury or fire.
•
If the battery is damaged and/or mishandled, gas may leak from the battery cells. In this
case, ventilate the area well and consult with a doctor in case of further problems. These
gases can damage the respiratory tract. In extreme cases, liquid may leak from the battery.
This can cause irritation or burns! If battery fluid leaks, proceed as follows:
o
gently wipe off the liquid with a cloth. Avoid contact with liquid with skin and eyes.
o
if there is contact with the skin, the affected area must be washed immediately with
a sufficient amount of clean water, or neutralized with a weak acid, such as lemon
juice or vinegar.
o
if the liquid comes into contact with the eyes, immediately flush with plenty of clean
water for at least 10 minutes and then seek professional medical attention.
•
Do not use damaged or modified rechargeable batteries. Damaged or modified batteries
may operate unpredictably, causing fire, explosion or risk of injury.
