The iX104C5 provides platform stability for its vertical market customers by supporting a 3-year+ lifecycle:
•
Xplore participates in Intel
®
’s Early Access Program, which provides solid visibility into their
embedded technology roadmap, enabling Xplore to select Intel
®
technologies that support 3- to
5-year product lifecycles which rugged tablet customers expect
•
The iX104C5 is a highly integrated system with complementary technologies that support extended,
stable lifecycles – processors, chipsets, wireless modules, storage, etc.
For larger field deployments that extend over years, customers periodically want to upgrade or modify prod-
uct configurations. The Xplore iX104C5 has been designed to provide enhanced field serviceability and
configuration management, both of which maximize system uptime by reducing the need for the return of
deployed systems to the factory or warranty service center for servicing and/or upgrades. This also helps to
reduce the total cost of ownership over the product’s lifecycle.
•
The iX104C5 has a number of system elements that are Customer Replaceable Units
(CRUs). Customers can readily replace or upgrade the following without special tools
or having to return systems:
Solid state modules
WLAN, broadband and Bluetooth radios
Memory
MicroSD cards
SIM cards
Batteries
•
Additionally, the iX104C5 can be readily serviced regionally by approved channel
partners and self-servicing end-user customers. Field Replaceable Units (FRU)
elements include:
Entire I/O module as a single insert
Dual antennas
Fans
Keypad module as a single insert
