PROVEN RUGGED IN THE REAL WORLD
Through the engineering development and commercialization of five generations of fully-rugged tablet solu-
tions, Xplore has refined a customer feedback methodology that is an integral part of the overall product
development model. Through an aggregation of customer inputs, research and development, extensive
rugged testing and – most importantly – real-world field experience, the iX104C5 incorporates a number of
innovative and advanced rugged design elements:
•
High-density, hardened magnesium alloy chassis
•
Custom multi-layer enclosure and internal framing system
•
ISO-damp cushioning for LCD and SSD assemblies
•
Provides exceptional strength and resistance to torsion, shear and impact damage
•
Contoured bumper protection system
•
Rounded, industrial rubber over-molded bumpers on corner impact zones provide
shock protection via energy dispersion and absorption
•
The extended wrap design provides protection on the X, Y and Z axis for a total of 26
different directional impacts
•
Complements the high-density magnesium and protects the internal electronics and
LCD from excessive shock and impact when hitting a non-yielding surface in drop
scenarios
•
Piston sealing technology
•
Custom gaskets and seals used at all mechanical contact points
•
Implemented into all module access doors to provide secure sealing after repeated
access
•
Sealed I/O module from ingress with passive I/O port cover
•
Prevents foreign particles from entering and potentially damaging the system
•
Allows for a higher level of ingress protection (IP67) than any unit in its class without
limiting manufacturing flow cycles or costly repair turnaround times
•
Custom-engineered, industrial Cool Touch thermal management system
•
Heat pipe thermal transfer design, combined with the Intel
®
Core
™
-i7 ULV processor,
allows the iX104C5 to operate in extreme temperatures
•
Combination of forced convection via industrial fan sealed and enclosed, custom-
engineered heat piping and conductive cooling elements
•
Reduced external chassis (“skin”) temperature for user comfort and longer
component life by drawing heat away from internal system elements
•
Internal temperature monitoring of critical components via multiple thermal sensors
helps maximize component protection and elongate the lifecycle of key system
elements
•
Unique pin and pad expansion ports support the addition of key application modules
such as the dedicated GPS module options
•
Gold plated for high throughput
•
Provides solid, sealed expansion capabilities for system growth
•
3H hardened, chemically-strengthened, scratch-resistant LCD display stack
•
Provides added LCD protection against potential damage:
Breaks due to impact
Deep, performance-impacting scratches
•
Industrial-grade, dual-mode, auto-sensing touchscreen supports up to 35M total
touches to a single location
•
Additional ruggedization design elements:
High-impact, etched functional keypad
Low-profile, integrated Wi-Fi and performance-enhanced broadband antennas
Shoe-box fit on magnesium frame
•
Xplore has multiple patents-pending on its rugged engineering designs
