Appendix B
Care and Maintenance
This appendix provides you with information on how to maintain the GeneSys computer in top
working condition.
Maintenance
The GeneSys computer requires little physical maintenance. As with any piece of electrical
equipment, however, you should follow a few simple maintenance routines and
precautions so that your GeneSys can provide outstanding performance for many years to
come.
•
Check the AC and DC power cords and power connectors periodically for damage. Replace
the power cord immediately if damage is found.
Keeping the Computer from Being Damaged
•
Avoid scratching the surface of the screen with sharp objects.
•
Your GeneSys computer is designed to sustain a multiple axis drop to a non-yielding surface.
However, please
do not intentionally
drop your GeneSys as the cumulative effect of
multiple drops may damage your computer.
•
Do not place anything heavy on your GeneSys computer.
•
Do not disassemble the computer.
•
Remove the battery pack and keep it in a cool place if you will not be using the computer for
a long period of time.
•
Insert a diskette straight into the external diskette drive. Inserting it at an angle can damage
the front of the external diskette drive.
•
Keep the GeneSys computer at least 5 inches (13 cm) away from any electrical appliance
that generates a strong magnetic field such as a motor, magnet, TV, refrigerator, or large
audio speakers.
Cleaning Your GeneSys
Housing
Apply a small amount of mild cleaning solution to a dry, lint-free cloth and wipe the
housing with the cloth.
Screen
In order to maintain optimum performance between the pen and digitizer you should keep your
screen clean. This can be accomplished by lightly spraying isopropyl alcohol onto the screen and
wiping with a soft cloth or paper towel.
NOTE: Do not use any harsh chemicals to clean the screen as this may affect the performance of
your digitizer.
