Installing Transfer Switches in AC Circuits
If you are using another AC source on the same circuit as the
PROwatt 1750, install a transfer switch to ensure that the sources never
power the circuit at the same time.
The switching mechanism can be as simple as a plug that you insert in the
desired AC power source. See
Figure 3-2
.
You can also use a manual or automatic transfer switch. See
Figure 3-3
. A
transfer switch is a double pole, double throw (DPDT) switch that
switches both the line and neutral wires to the AC distribution system
from one power source to the other. They are commonly used to switch
between a generator and utility power (shorepower).
