Of course, compact digital amplifiers can also
be placed and installed much easier than con-
ventional amplifiers, which - given the same
output power - are always much larger and
much heavier. E.g. a conventional mono sub-
woofer amplifier with a power output similar to
the XP500.1 will usually require a physical
volume of around four times the size of the
XP500.1 without offering any other audible
advantage.
The same special care that has gone into the
designing and engineering of this unpreceden-
ted switching technology has also gone into
the selection of the electronic components
incorporated in the XP500.1. Top-quality com-
ponents, advanced SMD (Surface Mounted
Devices) assembly and a meticulous quality
control best audio results, maximum stability
and a long trouble-free product life.
Advanced Electronic Filtering Options
The XP500.1 features two integrated
electronic filtering circuits: a highpass sub-
sonic filter and a lowpass filter, both with
12dB/oct. cut-off slopes and variable Q-factor
control.
The highpass filter continuously adjustable
between 11 and 45 Hz allows to suppress or
cut out unwanted subsonic frequencies, which
are mostly inaudible anyway. The elimination
of such subsonic frequencies relieves ‘un-
necessary strain’ in the form of ‘waste’ audio
power from the amplification circuitry and the
connected subwoofer. Subsonic highpass
filtering yields two major advantages:
■
increased maximum SPL
(Sound Pressure Level)
■
increased precision and control in bass
response because of efficient prevention of
amplitude modulation of the audible
frequencies.
By means of the adjustable 12 dB/oct. lowpass
filter it is possible to set the upper point of the
amplified frequency bandwidth of the XP500.1
and the respective subwoofer anywhere
between 35 and 146 Hz.
Additionally both filters - highpass and lowpass
- feature an independently variable Q-factor
control between Q 0,50 and Q 1,33. The Q-fac-
tor control allows the fine-tuning of the sub-
woofer amplification response. Depending on
the individual requirements it is possible to
either give the subwoofer a ‘slimmer’ or ‘fatter’
sound. Therefore the Q-factor control offers
the possibility of individually optimal amplifier/
subwoofer matching and sound-tuning.
Remote Dash-Mount Sub-Bass Level Control
The XP500.1 comes complete with a compact
remote SUB LEVEL CONTROLLER which can be
conveniently mounted on or under the dashbo-
ard of your car. The remote bass control allows
the individual adjustment of the subwoofer
level from the dashboard in order to compen-
sate for the variable bass volumes between
different audio sources (e.g. CD, MD, Cassette,
Tuner etc.) without using the bass (or
loudness) control on your head-unit. In any
case, it will usually be better to make adjust-
ments of the bass level via the SUB LEVEL
CONTROL as this will not affect the low
frequency bands of the satellites at all (unlike
the bass control and loudness controls of the
head-unit).
To enjoy the full possibilities of this truly
exceptional amplifier and in order to maximize
the performance of your complete car audio
system, we recommend that you acquaint
yourself thoroughly with its full capabilities and
features. Therefore,
please read this manual
carefully before undertaking the installation
of
this amplifier and please retain this manual
and your purchasing and installation receipts
for future reference.
In case you are installing your XP500.1
amplifier yourself, it is recommended to have
your installation checked by an authorized,
professional X-PULSE dealer/installer in order
to qualify for full warranty protection and to
reach maximum the power and audio
performance possible with your individual
automotive audio system.
