Self and personnel protection
■
Electric shock may result in major injuries or
death and may endanger the functionality of
objects (e.g. damage to the device).
■
The proper function of the voltage tester must
be checked shortly before use.
■
Ensure that measuring leads and the device are
in proper working order.
■
Check the device by connecting it to a known
power source, e.g. a 230 V socket.
• If the display for one or more functions fails
in the process, the device must no longer
be used and must be checked by qualified
specialist personnel.
■
Hold the device only at the handles, avoid
touching the test probes!
Safety in the workplace
■
Avoid operating the device in the vicinity of
electric welding machines, induction heaters
and other electromagnetic fields.
■
After abrupt changes in temperature, the
device must be allowed to adapt to the new
ambient temperature for approx. 30 minutes to
stabilise the IR sensor.
■
Do not expose the device to high temperatures
for any length of time.
■
Avoid dusty and humid ambient conditions.
■
In commercial facilities the accident prevention
regulations (in Germany issued by the commer
-
cial trade association for the safety of electrical
systems and equipment) must be observed.
■
To avoid damage to the device, do not exceed
the maximum input values specified in the
technical data.
■
Check the position of the function selection
switch and make sure that it is in the correct
position before each measurement.
■
During measurements, keep your fingers
behind the protective ring.
■
In DC mode the
+
sign on the device indicates
the technical current direction (see figure).
■
Before performing diode, resistance or conti
-
nuity measurements, discharge capacitors and
disconnect devices under test from the power
supply.
■
Voltage tests at sockets may be difficult
because of the unreliable connection with the
fitted electrical contacts and result in incorrect
results. Therefore additional alternative meas
-
ures should be taken to ensure that there are
no live wires or cables.
General safety instructions
■
Always visually check the device for damage
before initial use and after transport. Ensure
any damage is repaired by trained service
personnel prior to initial use.
■
Do not use with the battery compartment open!
■
The measuring leads must be disconnected
from the measuring circuit during battery
replacement.
■
In order to protect the device from damage,
remove the batteries if the device is not in use
for a prolonged period of time.
■
Measurement devices and accessories are not
toys and should always be kept away from
children!
■
Only use the enclosed safety measuring leads
or equivalent measuring leads that comply with
the correct measuring category CAT IV 600 V.
■
To avoid electric shocks, precautionary
measures must be observed when working with
voltages greater than 60 V DC or 30 V AC .
According to DIN VDE standards, these values
represent the limit at which exposed touchable
surfaces are still safe.
■
The testing device must only be used in the
specified measuring ranges.
■
Use only genuine Würth accessories
and spare parts.
