Trouble Shooting Guide
Faults
Cause
Solutions
Limit Thermostat operation
Low water in heating system.
Correct heating hot water pressure to 1.5 bar.
(Twice per second)
Check for leakage.
Seized circulating pump.
Remove sealing cap and release pump shaft. Turn the shaft
with a screw driver. Operation must be carefully carried out as
the pump has a ceramic shaft.
Temperature sensor (NTC) is not correctly applied and
positioned.
Remount sensor (NTC) and place in correct position.
Limit thermostat.
Check connections and check thermostat for continuity, if open
circuit replace thermostat.
Fuses.
Check and if damaged, replace fuses.
Damaged printed circuit board.
Replace circuit board.
Damaged circulating pump.
Check voltage (see table point 3) during burner operation.
Replace if necessary.
Inadequate bypass.
Check / adjust bypass.
No flame detection signal
Gas supply.
Check that the gas cock is open.
(once per second)
Check for correct gas inlet pressure.
Check gas container (LPG appliances).
Ionisation or ignition lead not correctly connected.
Check connections.
Damaged ionisation lead.
Measure ionization current ( >1.5 Micro Amps)
Damaged ignition lead.
Check and change if necessary.
Worn out electrodes (ionisation and ignition).
Change worn out items.
Gas inlet valve cable is not correctly connected.
Check connections and if cable damaged, replace it.
Damaged gas inlet valve.
Check resistance of solenoid coil. If open circuit R=infinity or
zero resistance (R=0) replace coil.
Damaged printed circuit board.
Check voltage (see table point 5) if values are wrong, replace
circuit board.
False flame detection
Damaged ionisation electrode.
Change electrode.
(once every 2 seconds)
Moist printed circuit.
Dry circuit board.
Damaged printed circuit.
Change printed circuit board.
Air flow not detected
Blockage in flue or inlet duct.
Check and clear as required.
(once every 4 seconds)
Pressure sensing tube not connected to air pressure
switch.
Re-connect.
Air pressure sensing tube kinked.
Re-align tube.
Damaged pressure sensing tube.
Replace as required.
Wiring to air pressure switch damaged or incorrectly
connected.
check connections or if damaged replace wiring.
Flue ducts are to long.
Check design of flue system and revise layout of system as
required.
Incorrect restrictor fitted to fan inlet.
Refer to table in section 10 (installation) and ensure that the
correct size restrictor is fitted in relation to the flue system.
Damaged air pressure switch.
Check for continuity (fan switched off) if resistance is zero
replace switch.
Damaged fan.
Check wiring to fan motor, if correct change fan.
Damaged printed circuit board.
Check voltages (see table points 3 and 4) if not correct, change
printed circuit board.
Room temperature too low
Room thermostat is not correctly set.
Check room thermostat adjustment.
Boiler temperature control set too low.
Adjust boiler temperature control.
The boiler output rate is set too low for the heating
load.
Recalculate the heating load and readjust the output rate as
required (max. 20 kW).
DHW temperature too low
Insufficient inlet water pressure.
Check water pressure is 0.35 bar min.
Dirty taps or mixers.
Clean taps.
Water valve inlet filter blocked.
Clean or replace filter as required.
Blocked water to water heat exchanger.
Change heat exchanger.
Boiler will not start
Damaged fuses.
Check and replace as required.
Problem with mains supply.
check voltage at mains supply and at points MP15 and MP16.
Damaged printed circuit board.
Replace printed circuit board.
No ignition spark at the electrodes
Room ’stat set too low.
Select the temperature according to your needs.
Programmer set to wrong program.
Program it correctly.
No mains supply.
See point (boiler will not start).
Damaged ignition electrode.
Replace electrode.
Damaged ignition leads from ignition transformer.
Replace ignition leads.
Damaged transformer.
Replace transformer.
Damaged printed circuit board.
Replace printed circuit board.
