Network Setup: Factory Acceptance Test
The factory acceptance test is a simulation to check whether the distributed control system
(DCS) receives the correct values from the WirelessHART gateway. During the simulation the
substitution values that were defined for the field devices are used to be sent to the DCS. The
simulation is successful if the DCS receives the substitution values as expected.
Carrying Out a Factory Acceptance Test
Without the network, the field devices do not communicate with the WirelessHART gateway
yet.
1. Generate a MODBUS mapping. For more information, see chapter 5.5.5, section "Manual
MODBUS Mapping for Input Status and Input Register".
2. Define a substitution value. For more information, see chapter 5.5.3.
If the gateway receives the substitution value in the DCS, the factory acceptance test is
successful.

Topology View
Here you can set up the topology view that is displayed under
Diagnostics > Wireless
Communication > Topology View
. You can upload background images in any common
graphic format, such as JPG or GIF. For example, you can use a satellite photo, a floor plan, or
a diagram in which you want to group the devices
For a detailed overview of the relationship between the configuration options in the DTM or web
interface and the data in the WirelessHART gateway, see Figure 5.19 on page 63.
Tip
Use the factory acceptance test to easily check the data transmission from the gateway to the
DCS without starting up a network first.
Note!
The
Instrument List
must be available before you set up the topology view, because the set of
WirelessHART devices is derived from the
Instrument List
. See chapter 5.5.1
