Periodic Update Mode
An update period value different from 0 enables the mode: all the specified variables are then
periodically forwarded to the discrete field device.
The update mode is useful if you require to manage a small number of discrete output devices
with frequently changing their output statuses. The on-change mode is based on the best-effort
wireless transfer mode.
5.5.3
Substitution Value
The WirelessHART gateway detects if the last measurement value has gone stale, or the error
limit of the age threshold value is exceeded. You can determine which type of substitution value
should be issued in this case.
You can set one of the following substitution values:
■
Last value
■
NaN1 (0x7FE00000)
■
NaN2 (0x7FA00000)
■
Upscale (ffffff)
■
Downscale (000000)
■
Any user-defined value
Setting Substitution Values
1. In the WirelessHART gateway web interface, go to
Engineering > Substitution Value
.
Figure 5.21
Engineering > Substitution Value
2. In the field
Global Selection
select a value from the pulldown list or enter your individual
value in the field.
With a click on
Apply
, the value is globally set for all field devices.
3. Option: If you find that you need deviating substitution values for single field devices,
proceed as follows: Click directly into the Loop Current, PV, SV, TV, or QV cells of the field
devices concerned and enter new suitable single values.
Tip
The substitution value can be used to carry through a factory acceptance test. For more
information, see chapter 5.5.7.
