Mak ing coff ee using coff ee beans
Do not use green, caramelised or candied c off ee beans as they
could stick to the c off ee mill and make it unusable.
1. Fill the beans container ( A16) (fi g. 12) with c off ee beans;
2. Place a cup under the c off ee spouts (A13);
3. Lower the spouts as near as possible to the cup (fi g. 13).
This makes a creamier c off ee;
4. Press (B10) or (B8) until the required c off ee is
displayed;
5. Then select your required c off ee from the homepage:
• ESPRESSO
•
• COFFEE
• LONG
• 2X ESPRESSO
• AMERICANO
6. Preparation begins. An image of the selected beverage ap-
pears on the display (B), together with a progress bar which
gr
adually fi lls as preparation proceeds.
• You can prepare 2 cups of ESPRESSO c off ee at the same time
by pressing 2X during preparation of 1 ESPRESSO (the
image is displayed for a few seconds at the start of prepara-
tion).
• While the machine is making c off ee, delivery can be inter-
rupted at any moment by pressing .
• As soon as delivery has ended, to increase the quantity
of c
off ee in the cup, just press . When the re-
quired quantity is reached, press .
Once the c off ee has been made, the appliance is ready to make
the next beverage.
Various alarm messages could be displayed while using the
appliance (FILL TANK, EMPTY GROUNDS CONTAINER, etc.).
Their meaning is explained in section “Displayed messages”.
•
For hotter c off ee, see section “Tips for a hotter c off ee”.
• If the c off ee is delivered a drop at a time, too weak and not
creamy enough or too cold, read the tips in sections “Ad-
justing the c
off ee mill” and “Troubleshooting”.
• Preparation of each c off ee can be customised (see sections
“Customising the beverages” and “Memorising your per-
sonal pr
ofi le”).
• If "Energy Saving" mode is active, you may have to wait a
few seconds befor e the fi rst c off ee is delivered.
Mak ing coff ee using pre-gr ound coff ee
• Never add pre-ground c off ee when the machine is off or it
could spread through the inside of the machine and dirty it.
This could damage the appliance.
• Never use more than 1 level measure (C2) or it could dirty
the inside of the c off ee machine or block the funnel (A21).
If you use pre-ground c off ee, you can only make one cup of cof-
fee at a time.
1. Press
AROMA (B6) repeatedly until (pre-ground)
appears on the display (B).
2. Open the lid (A15).
3. Make sure the funnel (A21) is not blocked, then add one
level measure of pre-ground c off ee (fi g. 14).
4. Place a cup under the c off ee spouts (A13).
5. Then select your required c off ee (ESPRESSO, COFFEE, LONG,
AMERICAN) from the homepage;
6. Preparation begins. An image of the selected beverage ap-
pears on the display, together with a progress bar which
gr
adually fi lls as preparation progresses.
• While the machine is making c off ee, delivery can be inter-
rupted at any moment by pressing .
• As soon as delivery has ended, to increase the quantity

Making LONG c off ee:
Halfway through preparation, the message ADD PRE-GROUND
COFFEE, MAXIMUM ONE MEASURE is displayed. Add one level
measure of pre-ground c
off ee and press .
A djusting the coff ee mill
The c off ee mill is set by default to prepare c off ee correctly and
should not require regulating initially.
However, if after making the
fi rst few c off ees you fi nd that the
c off ee is either too weak and not creamy enough or delivery is
too slow (a drop at a time), this can be corrected by adjusting the
grinding adjustment dial (
A17, fi g. 11).
The grinding adjustment dial must only be turned when the
c
off ee mill is in operation during the initial phase of c off ee
preparation.
If the c off ee is delivered too slowly or not
at all, turn one click clockwise towards 7.
For fuller bodied creamier c
off ee, turn
one click anticlockwise towards 1 (do
not turn more than one click at a time
otherwise the c
off ee could be delivered
a drop at a time).
