If the breaker blows:
a)
Check for reverse polarity connection
b)
Check the breaker in the system is correctly rated for the model (See the Electrical Requirements table)
c)
Check there have not been any power surges
d)
Check all electrical connections are intact and fully protected
NOTE:
Drain
must remain
in the ‘closed position’ while
the appliance is in use.
1.
Push knob down to clear the safety lock and turn
counter clockwise to desired setting.
2.
The indicator light will indicate when the unit is on.
3.
When finished cooking wait 7 to 10 minutes
before closing the cover to allow the grill to cool.
4.
Close cover by holding the handle firmly, then
disengaging the locking lever (see figure 5).
Note:
To prevent smoking, place water in drip tray
(1 cup or 8fl oz is recommended).
CAUTION
: Damage
will
occur to the cover if it is closed
while the element is hot.
If using utensils on the electric grill ensure that they have a long handle and a rubber grip that does not heat up to
prevent potential burns.
DO NOT
use plastic utensils - these will melt on the grill.

grill and carefully pulling the lid downwards
Damaged Lever
Replace the lever - contact Whale Support
Lid will not open
Lid has been forced down damaging lever
If the lid eventually opens, the lever can be replaced.
If the lid will not open at all the entire unit must be replaced
Grill does not shut
off when lid is in
the down position
Safety switch, lever or wiring damaged or dis-
engaged
Check the lever for damage - if damage is apparent, the lever
will need to be replaced by a qualified electrician. Check the
wiring for damage or disengagement.
Lid has been forced down
Grill is full of water
Lid left open while not in use
Open the drain valve on the underside of the grill and drain the
unit
Boat washdown
Grill turns off when
the lid is closed
Automatic cut-out switch activated
Normal operation - safety shut-off device and a required function
of the grill. Leave the lid open during use.
Grill lid has warped
/ will not close
properly
Grill has not been allowed to cool before lid
has been closed
Allow the barbecue to fully cool before shutting lid. Replace lid if
necessary - contact Whale Support
Automatic shut-off switch is not functioning
correctly
Check the lever for damage - if damaged contact a qualified
electrician. Check the wiring has not been damaged or
disengaged
Unit is corroding
Ammonia or heavy duty cleaner has been
used
Do not
use strong chemical cleaners on this appliance - non
reversible reaction
Knob damage or
degeneration
Lid left open resulting in extreme UV
degradation
In general, ensure the lid is closed on the unit when not in use.
Replacement knobs are available - contact Whale Support for
details
Ammonia or heavy duty cleaner has been
used
Do not use strong chemical cleaners on this appliance - replace
the knobs (Part #80421) and see Section 11
Incorrect utensils allowed to rest on knobs
(see Section 9)
Do not rest items on knobs as the heat can result in damage -
replace knob if necessary (Part #80421)
