EKW FX10 INSTALLATION MANUAL
3.28. Load flow Proving Switch (Bi-12)
The load flow proving switch shall be a normally open flow switch that will close when the water flow through
the load side heat exchanger reaches an acceptable level. The load flow proving switch must be closed 15
seconds prior to enabling the compressor output (BO-2). If the load flow proving switch opens at any time the
compressor output (BO-2) must be disabled immediately. Once the flow switch has opened the alarm output will
be energized after a 5 minute delay time. If the flow switch closed at any time after it has been sensed open the
fault will clear and the unit will return to normal operation.
4. Outputs
4.1.1. Reversing Valve (BO-1)
The reversing valve will be cycled on and off based on a command from an aqua-stat. A six second delay will
be in affect after the reversing valve is commanded from one state to the other, before allowing the compressor
(BO-2) to turn on. The reversing valve control action from “on for cooling” to “on for heating” is adjustable using a
Service/Commissioning Tool or the medium user interface.
4.2. Compressor (BO-2)
The compressor will run on a call for heating or cooling. The compressor output (BO-2) will activate only
if the compressor fixed on delay timer has been satisfied. When heating or cooling is no longer required, the
compressor output (BO-2) will de-activate after the compressor minimum on time has been satisfied. After the
compressor output is turned off, it will remain off for at least the compressor minimum off timer has been satisfied.
The compressor will not operate during the emergency shutdown or lockout modes.
4.3. Reversing Valve (BO-3)
4.4. Secondary unit enable (BO-4)
The secondary Unit Enable output will energize if the temperature setpoint control logic determines that
additional capacity is required to bring the entering load water temperature to setpoint.
4.5. Secondary unit S-Plan Comfort Select enable (BO-5)
This output follows the S-Plan Comfort Select Enable input BI-10.
4.6. Alarm Output (BO-6)
The alarm output will be enabled when the control is in the lockout mode and will be disabled when the lockout
is reset.
4.7. Accessory Output 1/Source Pump Control (BO-7)
Accessory Output 1 will be energized when the compressor output (BO-2) is energized. When the compressor
output (BO-2) is turned off accessory output 1 will be deactivated immediately. This output must be selectable for
normally open or normally closed operation by use of the facility management system, Service/Commissioning
Tool, or a user interface.
