Start-Up and Operation
Stud Detector
1. Hold the detector with the backside (7) against a wall known to not
contain a stud. Press the button on the left side (5). Now the unit
calibrates itself. The top red LED (4) lights up for a moment and
turns off. Do not move the unit until the LED turns off. Still press
the button.
2. For locating vertically lying
studs, move the unit horizontally
along the wall. When the unit
detects a stud, the bottom LED
(4) lights up. The closer you
move to the stud, the more
LEDs light up. If the detector
reaches the edge of the stud,
the top LED lights up.
3. Mark this edge on the wall.
Move the unit until the top LED turns off and the other LEDs light
up. Now, mark the second edge of the stud on the wall.
4. To locate horizontally lying
studs, follow the above men-
tioned steps but move the detec-
tor horizontally along the wall (90
degree turn).
Please Notice!
It is not always possible to find an
area without studs on an unknown
wall at the first try. If you hit a spot
with a stud by accident, the LEDs
do not turn off but still remain on even after pressing the button (5)
for self-calibrating. Try on another spot to calibrate the unit until you
have found an area on which calibration is possible to avoid errors.
This also applies for finding wooden framing around doors and
windows.
