Maintenance
Hedge Trimmer
ATTENTION! Detach the hedge trimmer attachment from the motor unit
before cleaning or maintaining. It is advisable to dismount the
attachment from the motor unit.
Always wear gloves during maintenance.
Lubricating the Hedge Trimmer
Lubricating the Cutting Bar
Do not operate the hedge trimmer without a sufficiently lubricated angle
drive. Insufficient lubrication will shorten the service life of the unit.
It is advisable to lubricate the angle drive regularly. Use Lithium
machine grease. Suitable grease and grease guns can be purchased
from Westfalia.
Cleaning the Cutting Bar
Remove dirt from the blade bar with a scrubbing brush or a small hand
broom.
To remove rosin residues, mix some paraffin and engine oil and wipe
off the blade bar (mixture ratio Paraffin : Engine Oil = 50 : 50).
Preferably lubricate the blade bar every 4 hours of operation. Apply a
few drops oil into the opening at the bottom side of the cutting bar.
Sharpening the Cutting Bar
The blades of the cutting bar must regularly be checked for wear and
sharpened if necessary. Dull blades will overload the hedge trimmer.
Have worn cutting bars be sharpened by a skilled expert.
