screw terminals (B) can be used for the back-up or redundant
power source. The last two screw positions are labelled
FGND" and ALARM". A customer-provided, plug-in, pow-
er supply module can be installed in the right-most slot of each
shelf in the mounting, if desired.
2.7
Module Installation
The DTWA528-28 holds up to 28 200 MECHANICS
type TS1,
HDSL, DDS or Analog Data/Voice-type modules. Set all mod-
ule switch options and install all modules per manufacturer
instructions and company practice. Modules make electrical
connection to external equipment when installed and properly
seated in the card-edge connector in the assembly. Align the
module with the assembly card guides above and below the unit
and insert the module as far as it will go into the slot connector.
- CAUTION -
Use care when installing and removing modules -
do not force
a module into place
. If a module resists insertion, remove it
and check for obstructions in or near the module’s or shelf’s
connectors and mounting slots. The module may then be
carefully aligned and gently re-inserted.
2.8
Closing the Assembly
After all connections are made, power and ground connec-
tions are properly terminated, and all modules are optioned
aligned, and tested, the front cover can be replaced. Place the
front cover over the shelf assembly and slide the cover to the
left. Securely tighten the front cover thumbscrews, located on
each side of the assembly. Make sure the cover is positioned
properly over the CIM module. Lock the assembly with the
key, if applicable.

3.2
Troubleshooting
If trouble is encountered, verify all installer connections to the
assembly and check that the CO power fuse is not blown. Also

shelf connector. If trouble persists, replace the suspect unit and
repeat procedures outlined. These procedures are not de-

those outlined herein, or repairs made beyond replacing a
faulty unit, are not recommended and may void the warranty.
