The tilt sensor is preprogramed to trigger if the angle of
inclination of the chassis of the BoSS X3X exceeds 1.25°
or for the BoSS X3 and BoSS X2 the angle is 1.5°.
If at any time, a replacement tilt sensor is fitted to a
BoSS X-Series machine please note the following:
1.
Order the correct tilt sensor from the manufacturers'
approved parts distributor:
a.
For BoSS X3X – Part number 83801007
(preprogramed to 1.25°)
b.
For BoSS X3/X2 – Part number 81801007
(preprogramed to 1.5°)
2.
Fit the new tilt sensor in accordance with the
exploded drawing and wiring diagram in this
Maintenance Manual.
3.
Follow the tilt sensor calibration procedure below.
Tilt sensor calibration procedure
In the event that a replacement tilt sensor is fitted to
a BoSS X-Series machine, after any structural repairs
to the machine (particularly the fitting of replacement
castors) or if the tilt sensor fitted is found to be out of
calibration, the following recalibration procedure must be
followed:
1.
Ensure the machine is fully charged.
2.
Position the machine on a solid floor with the swivel
castors locked in a longitudinal position.
3.
Raise the platform, lower the red fail-safe props
and lower the machine so that the props are tightly
engaged against the inside of the end of the
chassis.
4.
Remove
the chassis
back plate
to reveal the
terminal strip
behind (see
Figure 1).
5.
Remove the
tilt sensor
calibration
point cover
(see Figure
2).
6.
Clean the top of the chassis above the location of
the tilt sensor below.
7.
Place a calibrated inclinometer on top of the
chassis. The inclinometer needs to be able to read
both the lateral and longitudinal angles ie x and y, in
degrees to an accuracy of 2 decimal places.
8.
Using 2 jacks, one under the side of the chassis
which needs to be raised and one under the end
which needs to be raised, level the chassis so
that the lateral and longitudinal reading on the
inclinometer is +/- 0-0.02°.
9.
Using a
piece of
wire with
the core
exposed at
each end
bridge the
terminals
(see Figure
3). Hold
the wire in
place until
the tilt sensor alarm sounds signifying that the zero
calibration has been successful.
10.
Lower the chassis and remove the jacks.
11.
Slowly and smoothly jack up one side of the chassis
and ensure that the tilt alarm sounds at:
a.
For BoSS X3X – 1.2-1.3°.
b.
For BoSS X3/X2 – 1.45-1.55°.
12.
With the alarm sounding press the ‘UP’ button on
the handset to ensure the platform cannot raise.
13.
Lower that side and remove the jack.
14.
Slowly and smoothly jack up one end of the chassis
and ensure that the tilt alarm sounds at:
a.
For BoSS X3X – 1.2-1.3°.
b.
For BoSS X3/X2 – 1.45-1.55°.
15.
Lower that end and remove the jack.
16.
Replace the chassis back plate.
17.
The tilt sensor calibration procedure is now
complete.
WARNINGS
1 . If the calibration procedure above is not undertaken
correctly, the tilt sensor will not operate as intended,
which could result in the serious injury or death of any
subsequent operator of the BoSS X-Series machine .
2 . It is strongly recommended that this calibration
procedure be undertaken by two maintenance
engineers .
