Problem
Possible Cause
Solution
Motor Does Not Start
The outlet that the tiller is connected to is
faulty or has tripped.
Ensure that the unit is plugged into a working
outlet and the tool is switched on.
The power cord or extension cord is
damaged or not properly plugged in.
Check the power cord, extension cord, power
plug and the power outlet. Do not use if any
cord is damaged.
Motor is overloaded and circuit breaker
trips.
Wait 15 minutes and try to use the tiller again.
Avoid using the tiller in soil with lots of hard
objects or when the soil is wet or frozen.
Carbon brushes worn down.

Abnormal Noise
Tines are worn or damaged.
Replace the tines.
Working depth is too shallow.
Work slower and deeper with the tiller.
Excessive Vibrations
Loose components.

Tines are worn or damaged.
Replace the tines.
Working depth is too shallow.
Work slower and deeper with the tiller.
Tool Overheating
Motor is overloaded and circuit breaker
trips.
Reduce load on motor - work slower and shal-
lower. Avoid using the tiller in soil with lots of
hard objects or when the soil is wet or frozen.
Extension cord too long with an insuf-
ficeint gauge.
Utilize an extension cord of appropriate gauge
and length.
