FULL ASCII CODE 39 CHARACTERS
Character pairs /M and /N decode as a minus sign and period respectively.
Character pairs /P through /Y decode as 0 through 9.
If full ASCII Code 39 decoding is enabled, certain character pairs within the bar
code symbol will be interpreted as a single character. For example: $V will be
decoded as the ASCII character SYN, and /C will be decoded as the ASCII
character #.
APPEND OPTION
INTERLEAVED 2 OF 5
DECODING ALGORITHM
This function allows the 8300 to append the data from several Code 39 bar
codes together before transmitting them to the host computer. When this
function is enabled, the scanner stores those Code 39 bar codes that start with
a space (excluding the start and stop symbols), and doesn’t immediately
transmit the data. The scanner stores the data in the order in which the bar
codes are read, deleting the first space from each. The scanner transmits the
appended data when it reads a Code 39 bar code that starts with a character
other than a space, or when it reads a bar code which is not Code 39.
6, 14, & 16 Only: When this function is set to “Yes,” the 8300 sets the
minimum length to 5 and the maximum length to 16.
This selection sets the decoding aggressiveness of the 8300. Adaptive
decoding allows the 8300 to decode bar codes which are out of tolerance, and
which do not conform to symbology specifications. Traditional decoding
ensures correct decoding, and does not allow variances from bar code
specifications.
Check Digit Required: When Check Digit Required is set to “Yes,” the 8300
will not read an Interleaved 2 of 5 bar code printed without the check character.
Transmit Check Character: When set to “Yes,” the 8300 transmits the bar
code check character at the end of the scanned data.
