Chapter 2
The
INT203
Firewire I/O
Interface
2.1
Features
The
INT203
Firewire I/O Interface extends your computer with digital audio
inputs and outputs. It allows you to:
•
playback audio from your computer to digital audio equipment (D/A
converter, digital audio processing, etc.)
•
connect your computer to digital audio sources (A/D converter, digital
audio transports, etc.) in order to record/route digital audio
•
use the
INT203
as a stand-alone digital level control when not connected
to a computer
2.1.1
Firewire
There are two Firewire connectors in order to chain several Firewire based units
on a single Firewire bus. Which of the two Firewire connectors is used for the
connection to the computer is not relevant. The supported sampling frequencies
are 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 or 192 kHz.
2.1.2
Outputs
There are two AES/EBU outputs on a XLR and a RCA connector available on
the backpanel (fig. 2.3). The XLR and RCA connectors are fed from the same
source (Firewire output) in single wire mode, but have separate output stages.
They can be used simultaneously.
2.1.3
Inputs
Two separate digital audio inputs, one XLR connector and one RCA connector,
are available in order to transmit digital audio via Firewire into the connected
