CLEANING
FLUSHING
TESTING
IMPORTANT:
Check with the manufacturer of your heating appliance for specific
guidelines and maintenance requirements for the unit installed.
IMPORTANT:
For heating appliances with integrated drains, refer to appliance owner’s
manual for service procedures.
CLEANING AND FLUSHING
Pump, hoses, pail, and cleaning solution not included.
1.
Power down the unit, then close the fuel source isolation valve.
2.
Close the Cold
A
and Hot
B
main water valves.
3.
Ensure the Cold
A
and Hot
B
drain valve handles are closed (handles
perpendicular to the drain spout). Slowly remove the drain caps. Retain washer.
4.
Connect the pump outlet hose to the Cold
A
drain.
5.
Connect a drain hose to the Hot
B
drain.

. Pour 3 to 5 gallons of flushing/de-scaling solution into a pail (virgin food grade
white vinegar or citric acid recommended - see appliance owner’s manual for
specific recommendations for your unit).
7.
Place the pump/pump inlet hose and Hot
B
drain outlet hose into the pail.
8.
Open Cold
A
and Hot
B
drain valves.
9.
Turn on the pump. Allow the solution to circulate for 20 to 45 minutes,
depending on the amount of scale in the appliance.
10.
Turn off the pump. Close the Cold
A
drain valve.
11.
Remove the hose from the Cold
A
drain.
Replace cap & washer securely onto the drain valve outlet.

. Remove the pump and hose from the pail.
Dispose of the cleansing solution safely and properly.
Flushing -
This procedure will flush the appliance with fresh cold water.
13.
Put the Hot
B
drain hose end back into the empty pail or place in drain.
Open the Cold
A
main water valve. Flush with at least 20 gallons.
You will have to empty the pail several times.
14.
Close the Cold
A
main water valve and clean unit in-line filter, if required.
15.
Close the Hot
B
drain valve, remove the drain hose.
Replace cap and washer securely onto the drain valve outlet.
16.
Open the Cold
A
and Hot
B
main water valves.
17.
Ensure that both the Cold
A
& Hot
B
drain valve handles are CLOSED.
18.
Open fuel source isolation valve, then restore power to the tankless water heater.
Restart the unit per the power up guidelines of the manufacturer.
DIAGNOSTIC TESTING

™
Series service valves allow for full diagnostic testing of the heating appliance
at the unit, eliminating the need for another individual to actuate a remote hot water
fixture. Flow rate, firing rate, and temperature tests can all be performed; consult
appliance owner’s manual for complete information on testing your particular model.
1.
Ensure the Hot
B
drain valve handle is closed (perpendicular to the drain spout).
Slowly remove the drain cap. Retain washer.
2.
Connect a hose to the Hot
B
drain valve and run into a pail, sink, or drain opening
and begin testing the system.
3.
When testing is complete, close the Hot
B
drain valve and remove the drain hose.
Replace cap and washer securely onto the drain valve outlet.
SERVICING
INSTRUCTIONS
For diagnostic testing
with potable water,
hot main water valve
can remain open.
For flushing, hot main
water valve should remain
closed to prevent cleaning
solution from entering
hot water system piping.
