8.8 WHM PROGRAMMING & START-UP
All required hardware installation and network wiring must be completed
before
configuring the
WHM parameters into the WHM Manager and Client units. In addition, the required menu
entries must be determined based on the descriptions in the previous sections.
AERCO recommends that the WHM Manager be set up first. By doing so, the Manager will
“push” most of the operating parameters to each WHM Client when they are brought on-line.
For clarity, the instructions below assume that the WHM Manager and Clients will be
consecutively numbered, starting at 1 (WHM Manager)
, although that’s not required.
Complete the instructions below
on the unit designated as the WHM Manager
:
WHM Manager Programming & Start-Up Procedure
1. Go to:
Main Menu
→
Advanced Setup
→
WHM Cascade
→
Cascade Configuration
,
then configure the following parameters:
a. Set the WHM Unit Mode to
WHM Manager
.
b. You have the option of designating one of the units in the WHM Cascade as a Backup
Manager. If the WHM Manager fails, manager functionality will automatically transfer to
the designated Backup Manager. To use this functionality, enable the
Auto-Manager
Transfer
parameter, then
specify the address of the Backup Manager in the
Backup
Manager Addr
parameter. You can also enter a delay before transferring manager
functionality in the
Auto-Manager Timer
parameter.
2. Go to:
Main Menu
→
Advanced Setup
→
WHM Cascade
→
Application Configuration
.
3. Set the
WHM Setpoint
parameter to the desired temperature.
4. Go to:
Main Menu
→
Advanced Setup
→
WHM Cascade
→
Cascade Comm
and
configure the following parameters:

a. Specify the address of the WHM Manager in the
Unit Address
parameter.
b. Specify the minimum and maximum address in the Cascade in the
Min Address
and
Max Address
parameters (typically 1 to the maximum number of units in the
cascade).
c. Set the communication parameters in the
Cascade Baud Rate
,
Network Timeout
and
Error Threshold
parameters.
d. Specify the
Plant Failsafe Mode
, which
determines what the entire plant does if the
WHM Manager loses communication with the WHM Client units.
