5�3�2 LOADING
1.
Allow the power pack or tractor and
hydraulics to warm before beginning
picking operation.
2.
Open the grapple and release it from the
trailer frame.
3.
Raise and rotate the boom out over the
log to be picked, so that the grapple is
positioned at the center of the log.
4.
Rotate the grapple until it is at right angles
to the length of the log.
5.
Open the grapple and lower it over log.
IMPORTANT
For safe and efficient operation
estimate the position of the
log center of gravity to keep it
balanced when rotating, lifting
and swinging.

5�3 LOADING AND PICKING:
When preparing to load follow the procedures under section 5�1� Ensure stabilizers are down and
trailer is attached to the tow vehcle�
5�3�1 LOAD DISTRIBUTION
Always balance the load in the center of the trailer to maintain a balanced weight distribution on the tires
and trailer frame, larger logs on the bottom and smaller on top. The best results are obtained when loads
are planned in a safe and common sense manner.
•
Do not load logs above the height of
the trailer bunks.
•
Do not load logs so as to create a peak
in the center of the load. The load must
be flat as possible.
•
Ensure no logs or branches are
protruding out of the side of the trailer
load should be contained within the
bunks.
•
Ensure no logs are sitting in an
unstable position.
•
Secure the load by strapping it down
when preparing to transport.
Caution: Overhead Loads!
•
Contact with heavy logs swing
-
ing or falling and swinging
booms can cause severe injury
or death.
•
Never operate the boom or load
over or near personnel
•
Do not operate loader within
100 feet of all electrical power
transmission lines.
