2001 Volvo S40 & V40 

There is a belt in the rear wall of the trunk/cargo space to help hold luggage in place. 

This can be locked in the left-hand wheel arch or in the right rear wall. 

The backrest should be in upright position and avoid sharp or pointed edges. Keep the center of gravity 
of the luggage close to the trunk floor. 

Function : 

Pull the belt around the luggage, lock it in place, pull it all the way out and then let it retract. The belt 
will then be taut. 

To release, unclip the belt and let it roll up completely. 
Inspect the belt for damage after an accident or sudden stop.
