The device complies with the provisions of EN 61010-1, protection class 2, overvoltage
protection CAT II (1000 V)
The measuring instrument is operated with a voltage between 100 – 240 V/AC at 50 – 60 Hz.
Do not make measurements in potentially explosive areas (Ex) or wet rooms or under unfa-
vourable ambient conditions. Unfavourable ambient conditions are: Moisture or high humidity,
dust and flammable gases, fumes or solvents, as well as thunderstorms or thunderstorm
conditions like strong electrostatic fields etc.
For safety reasons, when measuring only use measuring cables or accessories which are
adjusted to the specifications of the meter.
The instrument should only be operated by persons who are familiar with the required regula-
tions and potential dangers. The use of personal protective equipment is recommended.
Use other than that described above can lead to damage to the product and may involve
additional risks such as, for example, short circuits, fire, electrical shocks, etc. No part of the
product may be modified or reconfigured!
Read the operating instructions carefully and keep them for later reference.
The safety instructions are to be observed without fail!
EXPLANATION OF THE SYMBOLS
An exclamation mark within a triangle indicates important information
contained within this technical product documentation which must be
observed.
A lightning symbol inside a triangle warns against the danger of an electric
shock or impairment of the electrical safety of the device.
The arrow symbol is used when specific tips and advice on operation are
provided
Protection class 2 (double or reinforced insulation/ protective insulation)
CAT I
Measurement Category I (Overvoltage category) for measuring circuits of
electrical and electronic equipment that is not directly supplied with mains
voltage (e.g., battery-operated devices, protective extra-low voltage, signal
and control voltages, etc.).
CAT II
Measurement Category II (Overvoltage category) for measuring electrical
and electronic devices that are directly supplied with mains voltage via a
mains plug. This category also covers all smaller categories (e.g., CAT I for
measuring signal and control voltages).
CAT III
Measurement Category III (Overvoltage category) for measuring in building
installation (e.g., outlets or sub-distribution). This category also covers
all smaller categories (e.g., CAT II for measuring electronic devices). The
measuring operation in CAT III is permitted only with probe tips with a
maximum free contact length of 4 mm or with cover caps over the probe tips.
CAT IV
Measurement Category IV (Overvoltage category) for measuring at the
origin of the low-voltage installation (e.g., main distribution, electricity
provider's transfer points to homes, etc.) and outdoors (e.g., tasks on earth
line, overhead line, etc.). This category also contains all lower categories.
The measuring operation in CAT IV is permitted only with probe tips with a
maximum free contact length of 4 mm or with cover caps over the probe tips.
