BASIC WORK TECHNIQUE 19
Before beginning the felling work, make sure that
:
● There are no people or animals in the felling area of the tree.
● There is an obstacle-free escape route for each participant. A retreat occurs diagonally counter to the felling
direction.
● The area around the trunk is free of obstacles (risk of stumbling
)
.
● The next workplace is at least two and a half tree lengths away. Before felling, the felling direction of the tree
must be checked and ensure that there are no objects, people, or animals within a distance of 2 1/2 tree
lengths.
The felling of a tree occurs in two steps:
1. Notch the trunk approximately one-third of its diameter on the felling direction side.
2. On the other side, make the felling cut,which must be somewhat higher than the felling notch (approx.2in).
Cut into the trunkhalfway,then turnover and saw through from the opposite side.
