Gently press the   button.

Strongly press the   button or

swipe over the button from bottom to top.

Strongly press the   button or

swipe over the button from top to bottom.

If you adjust the announced speed excessively, pre-
dictive cruise control will be terminated.

If a speed limit is detected, the predictive
cruise control function will adjust the stored

speed even if ACC is deactivated. However, speed
regulation will not take place.

If the current speed significantly exceeds
a speed limit detected by the Dynamic Road

Sign Display function, a warning will appear on the
instrument cluster display.

When you join a motorway without a speed
limit, the recommended speed will automati-

cally be stored as the desired speed. If a higher
speed has previously been stored on a motorway
without a speed limit, this will be adopted instead of
the recommended speed.

Troubleshooting

 Please refer to

at the start of the chapter on

page 163.

A message is displayed that predictive cruise con-
trol is currently not available or is not available in
your country.

— If this message is displayed for an extended peri-

od and predictive cruise control is available in
your country, go to a qualified workshop.

Depending on the malfunction, additional in-
formation may be displayed in the vehicle sta-

tus → page 35.

Area monitoring system (Front
Assist)

 Introduction to the topic

The Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front As-
sist) with City Emergency Braking System and
Pedestrian Monitoring can help to avoid acci-
dents.

Within the limits of the system, Front Assist can
warn the driver about imminent collisions, prepare
the vehicle for emergency braking, assist with brak-
ing, and initiate automatic braking. The warning
times vary depending on the traffic situation and
driver behaviour.

Front Assist is not a substitute for the full concen-
tration of the driver.

Driving with Front Assist

You can cancel the automatic braking interventions
of Front Assist by steering or pressing the accelera-
tor.

Automatic braking

Front Assist can decelerate the vehicle to a stand-
still. The vehicle will then not be held permanently.
Depress the brake pedal!

The brake pedal will feel harder during an automatic
braking operation.

Radar sensor

Front Assist detects driving situations by means of
the radar sensor at the front of the vehicle. The
range of the radar sensor is up to approximately
120 m (400 ft).

Functions included in the system

The City Emergency Braking System and Pedestrian
Monitoring (depending on vehicle equipment) are
part of Front Assist and are automatically active
when Front Assist is switched on.

WARNING

The intelligent technology used in Front Assist
cannot overcome the physical limits specified, and
functions only within the limits of the system.
Never let the extra convenience afforded by Front
Assist tempt you into taking risks when driving.
The driver is always responsible for braking in
time.
