Components and Performance

The speaker section uses an extremely high-efficiency custom device:

This special speaker, designed to Voice Systems specifications, allows a consistent,
well defined and powerful reproduction of the very low frequency range and makes
the SB8 the sub-woofer with the best performance/size ratio in its class:

When reproducing low and very low frequencies, especially in public settings,
sound pressure is of particular importance.
Normally, large speakers are used to provide acceptable performance. But large speakers
mean large, heavy cabinets, not always compatible with the demands of transport,
installation and, last but not least, budgets....
So how can high sound pressure be achieved with compact speakers, to produce a unit
that can be transported by one person, will fit into the boot of a car, and is affordably
priced?
Physics comes to our aid:

“Sound pressure is directly proportional to the volume of air

moved”.

The largest volume of air a speaker can move (and therefore the maximum sound
pressure it can generate) depends both on its emission area and on its maximum
excursion or “Xmax

Therefore, to obtain a high sound pressure using small-sized transducers – like the Sub
VS8 8" speaker) its Xmax, or its maximum permitted excursion, must be set at
