STEP 7
Locate studs using a stud finder and mark locations
with a pencil or marker. Make sure markings are
in line with the center of the studs. Minimum stud
spacing is 12.25”, and maximum spacing is 16.5”.
STEP 4
The space above the mantle must be taller than the wallboard . The required space depends on how
far out the mantle extends. Refer to chart below and add this additional height to wallboard height to
determine if space is tall enough.
STEP 5
Measure the center line of the mantle. Mark with
tape on the wall.
STEP 8
If the main wall is brick or concrete, plastic
anchors (

) must be used. Please reference
Step 4 for proper locations of mounting
holes, making sure there are no more
than minor deviations from the diagram.
Drill 2.7” (68mm) deep holes using a 3/8”
(10mm) drill bit, then press plastic anchors
into holes
