• If necessary, you can brush off your cast iron burner with a grill brush and unclog
nozzles with a pointed object. Also make sure that the cross slot on the underside
of the burner is free - this guides the flame from one side of the burner to the other.
• Beware of unwanted guests:
• Insects and spiders are attracted to the smell of gas and like to nest in burner
openings. The following signs indicate insect nests:
- Smell of gas with the burner flame appearing yellowish.
- The burner does not reach a sufficient temperature.
- The burner heats erratically.
- The burner makes a popping noise.
• If you notice a change in the flame pattern, you should clean the burner openings.
Clean infrared burner
• Neither the infrared backburner nor the IR main burner (model VI-GX1-4BI-IR)
may be cleaned mechanically or with liquids. Please do not try to remove residues,
blockages or the like with a pointed object, as the ceramic is sensitive, and you
could damage the burner.
• Burn the IR burner free of any residue (pyrolysis) by letting it run at full power for 5
to 10 minutes with the lid closed.
• Water or other liquids should never be poured onto the hot surface, as this will
cause the temperature to drop and damage the ceramic surface.
Clean drip tray
• To clean the drip trays, please pull them out of the grill.
• Beforehand, it is worth using the grill brush to brush coarse dirt from the inside of
the grill into the drip tray.
• The grease pans must be emptied regularly as accumulation of grease poses a
major risk of fire.
• If necessary, each tray can then be scraped out
with a scraper and cleaned with detergent.
• Please do not put aluminum foil in the fat pan.
This can lead to greater accumulations of fat and
thus an increased risk of fire.
Tip:
In Australia and the USA in
particular, many customers put
a thin layer of sand in the
grease tray, which binds the
dirt and grease and thus makes
cleaning easier.
