Recommended protective distances between portable and mobile HF telecommunications
equipment and the nursing bed
The nursing bed is intended for use in an electromagnetic environment in which radiated HF
disturbances are controlled. The customer or user of the healthcare bed can help prevent
electromagnetic interference by maintaining the minimum distance between portable and mobile
RF telecommunication devices (transmitters) and the healthcare bed, depending on the rated
power of the communication device as specified below.

For transmitters whose maximum rated power is not specified in the table above, the
recommended protective distance d in metres (m) can be determined using the equation
corresponding to the frequency of the transmitter, where P is the maximum rated power of the
transmitter in watts (W) as specified by the transmitter manufacturer.
NOTE 1 At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the protective distance applies to the higher frequency range.
NOTE 2 These guidelines may not be applicable in all cases. The propagation of electromagnetic
quantities is influenced by absorptions and reflections from buildings, objects and people.
