Included  with  the  CS  step  system  is  a 
barrier (Figure 13.1) designed to prevent 
swimming  behind  the  unit  -  it  is  very      
important that it is installed. 
 
The  barrier  is  hollow  and  can  be  filled 
with  coarse  sand  or  gravel  for  ballast  if 
desired.  The  additional  weight  will  assist 
the  step  to  sit  securely  on  the  pool  floor. 
A  closure  cap  for  the  barrier  (Figure 
13.2) is included. Simply remove the cap, 
fill barrier and replace cap. DO NOT USE 
fine  sand  if  filling  the  barrier  as  it  may 
escape small air holes in the barrier.

Position  the  barrier  in  the  center  of  the    
underside  of  the  in-pool  portion  of  the 
steps  (Figure  13.3).  The  four  knobs  on  the 
barrier  fit  into  indentations  on  the  under-
side  of  the  treads  (Figure  13.4).  Press    
barrier  and  knobs  into  treads  and  secure 
using  eight  (8)  #  10  x  1  inch  long  screws 
provided.  Make  certain  not  to  over-tighten 
the screws as they may strip.
