V1400X-AC-M Alarm Control
The V1400X-AC-M Alarm Control CPU allows you to connect up to 512 local alarms to the V1400 control
system, using V1300X-IA Alarm Interface Devices. Each V1300X-IA may be connected to up to 32 alarm
devices. The V1300X-IA-EX is an expanded version of the V1300X-IA and may accept up to 64 alarm
devices. Refer to Instruction Manual X849 for more information on alarm interface devices.
You may also connect two alarm printers to the V1400X-AC-M in order to print alarm reports. If alarm
reporting is not required, you may connect up to two host computers to the V1400X-AC-M, but these
computers can only use a very limited RS-232 command code set. To use all of the RS-232 commands
available to the NOVA V1400, use connector J7 on the V1400X-SV-M Supervisor CPU. The same two ports
(J11 and J12 on the Alarm Control panel) can be used for alarm serial printers and host computers, so that if
you have three host computers, you do not have a serial printer. Or if you have two alarm printers, you can
only have one host computer, but that computer will be connected to J7 and will be able to use all command
codes. Note that RS-232 alarms 512-2048 are accessible through any of the three RS-232 ports.
For the printer and/or host computer (RS-232) connections, Vicon recommends Belden 9536 at a maximum
distance of six feet (1.8 m). Parts needed for alarm interface devices (such as adapters) will be supplied in
the accessory kit, as will the parts to fabricate the RS-232 connectors. Note that the cables must be shielded
using the connector shells.
