• Setup automatic timed method to lock the system when
unused to prevent unauthorized access
• Limit administrative access and elevated privileges to separate
administrative accounts to minimize the impact of viruses and malware
• Review communications from the manufacturer regularly
to keep updated with any security news
• Utilize unique passwords across multiple systems
• Choose passwords that are difficult for brute force attacks to guess
• Avoid commonly used passwords such as “password” and “1234”
• Use a password manager to maintain unique and strong passwords across all
systems
INTERNET
• Utilize an antivirus/anti-malware software and run daily updates
• Do not download applications or templates from unknown websites
• Browse only trusted websites before opening or clicking on any
links or opening any files downloaded from the Internet
• Do not click on any links in emails from unknown origins or have suspicious content
• Utilize a firewall and keep it updated to protect against internet attacks
• Do not disable warnings that alert the user when the firewall is turned off or disabled
• Download scene collection templates only from the Vestibular First website
HIPAA RECOMMENDATIONS
Videos or images of the iris are considered Protected Health Information
(PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII). If you choose to record
the videos to a compatible computer, please follow your organization’s
policies and procedures for securing HIPAA-protected data. The Insight
Infrared Video Goggles do not store any video or information internally nor
does the OBS software have any connection to Vestibular First systems.
