ATTERY
AVOID PERSONAL INJURY!
Battery electrolyte contains sulfuric acid. It is
poisonous and can cause serious burns.
Wear eye protection and gloves.
Keep skin protected.
If electrolyte is swallowed, get medical atten-
tion immediately.
If electrolyte is splashed in eyes, fl ush imme-
diately with water for 15-30 minutes and seek
medical attention.
If electrolyte is splashed onto skin, fl ush
immediately with water and get medical atten-
tion, if necessary.
The battery produces a fl ammable and explo-
sive gas. The battery may explode.
Do not smoke near battery.
Wear eye protection and gloves.
Do not allow direct metal contact across bat-
tery posts.
Remove negative cable fi rst when discon-
necting.
Install negative cable last when connecting.

Removing:
Park machine on a level surface.
Shut off engine and engage park brake.
Remove ignition key from switch.
Remove side panel electric shield.
Disconnect negative battery cable (A).
Disconnect positive battery cable (B).
Loosen two fasteners (C) and remove the battery
clamp.

Lift battery from battery compartment using rope
handle over top of the battery.
Installing:
Place battery into the battery compartment.
Connect positive cable to positive battery termi-
nal fi rst, then connect the negative cable to the
negative battery terminal.
Apply dielectric grease to terminals to prevent
corrosion.
Slide terminal covers over battery connections.
Install battery clamp over battery and fasten. Do
not over tighten.
Reinstall the side panel electric shield.

Park machine on a level surface.
Shut off engine and engage park brake.
Remove ignition key from switch.
Disconnect and remove battery.
Wash battery with solution of four tablespoons
of baking soda to one gallon of water. Be careful
not to get the soda solution into the cell.
Rinse the battery with plain water and dry.
Clean terminals and battery cable with wire
brush until bright.
Apply dielectric grease to terminals to prevent
corrosion.
