Chapter IV - Usage
Installation (Cont.)
Software Overview
Once secure, align the rear support brackets to first verify fitment. In some cases it may be necessary to adjust
the rear support structure of the enclosure, in this case please follow the instructions provided with your
enclosure. Once fitment has been verified continue by installing the rear support brackets using the supplied
hardware. Each rear support bracket should be secured to the enclosure with two screws (not included) and then
to the Venom BCMS with four screws (included). Failure to install the included rear support brackets may cause
damage to the Venom BCMS and enclosure.
Once secure in the enclosure, connect the power cord to the back of the Venom BCMS. Please note the Venom
BCMS Ultra includes both a 110V and 240V power cable and it is important to choose the proper cable according
to the power available for your installation. Continue by connecting a USB A to USB B cable to the USB port
located on the back of the Venom BCMS. Once complete, gather the cords and secure them so that they do not
interfere with installation of the venting system.
Once installation of the venting system has been completed per the venting requirements, be sure to secure the
enclosure as required by your local jurisdiction and/or per the manufacturers recommendations.
Proceed by connecting the Venom BCMS power cord to the appropriate outlet and connecting the USB cable to
the computer that will run the Venom BCMS software. Please note that multiple systems can be connected to a
single computer via USB hub. Consult the owner's manual for your computer and USB hub for any requirements
and limitations.
The Venom BCMS uses a robust software program that allows precise control over all parameters of the charger.
This system will capture and store all relevant information in the cloud allowing for seamless collection, retrieval
and review of collected battery fleet information. The data will vary depending on the type of battery used, if using a
Venom Commercial Series battery users will be able to collect data from both charge and discharge cycles. If using a
standard battery users are able to collect data from actions taken by the Venom BCMS. In both cases the
information captured allows users to have better visibility into what is happening with each particular battery and
monitor this over time. This will help in the decision making process of what batteries to send into the field and
what batteries are nearing retirement.
The heart of the Venom BCMS system is a robust proxy application which runs in the background on a dedicated
machine allowing the computer to communicate with the charger(s) and pass information back and forth.
