Renaming the modules and channels
In a new Velbuslink project the module names will default to their type, but
they can then be renamed (eg. VMBGPOD could become “GPO
D-Master
Panel”).
Names can be 15 characters long.
Most module names are stored only in Velbuslink and not in the modules.
(Newer modules now store their name too.)
You can rename a module in different ways:
by double-clicking on the name
by selecting the module and pressing the F2-key on your keyboard
by selecting the module and clicking on the rename icon
above
by right-
clicking on it and selecting “Rename”
Channels can be renamed in the same way.
Channel names are always stored
in the respective modules.
It would be good practise to confirm the fixtures that are connected to each
output module by pressing the mechanical button on each output module, or
operating that channel from within Velbuslink (see
above), then rename that output module and channel
accordingly. Likewise, names and channels of input modules can be identified
and renamed in the same way.
We strongly advise to give channels and modules meaningful names (based on
their location and/or function for instance). This will make it easy to find the
right modules and channels in Velbuslink when creating actions. It will also
facilitate understanding the Velbuslink project if modifications need to be
made later on.
Synchronising your project with your installation at this stage will write the
channel names to the modules. To do so, c
lick on the “Synchronize” button
and then on “Write”.
