Priority configuration (master / slave)
The user who first selects a particular video source (master), has control over the
functions of that source. Of course, this only applies to sources which can be operated
via the MC 5400 (e.g. VDO Dayton navigation computer, VDO Dayton TV 5100,
VDO Dayton DV 6100). In addition, the internal functions of the MC 5400 can only be
operated by the user who first selects a particular function.
This means that the person who first selects a source or an MC 5400 function has the
master rights for this unit, receives the connection to the video source and is able to
operate it. On the other hand, the person who selects a unit which is already being
used by another operating unit only receives the slave rights for this unit. He also
receives the connection to the video source, but is not able to operate it. If the
operating unit terminates use of a unit with master rights, these master rights are
transferred to the next operating unit with slave rights.
The priority configuration also applies to the MC 5400 software functions. The software
functions include all applications which can be selected in the main menu of the
MC 5400.
Entering letters
If no PC keyboard is connected to the
MC 5400, letter strings are entered via
a keypad window. For this purpose, a
virtual keypad is displayed, from which
letters can be selected, one after another,
using the remote control.
